The Associate Degree in Applied Health Science (Dermal Therapy) will help you accelerate your career by giving you an accredited and nationally recognized degree. It’s also your first step towards a Bachelor of Applied Health Science (Clinical Aesthetics). After completion of the 2 year Associate Degree in Applied Health Science (Dermal Therapy) qualification, you can continue into 3rd year studies to complete the additional 8 subjects (worth 10 credit points each) required to complete the Bachelor of Applied Health Science (Clinical Aesthetics) qualification. These unique programs enable you to tailor your educational outcomes according to your career requirements.

Including studies in ethical and professional standards and practices within the Australian Healthcare system, the biology of wellness, the science of nutrition and role of therapeutic interventions in aesthetics.

HEALTH COMMUNICATION AND MANAGEMENT

Including studies that equip students with tools for professional communication, practice management and critical thinking.

CLINICAL AESTHETIC PRACTICE

Which provides opportunities to integrate and consolidate health science theory and practice in a supervised clinical environment.

What is the level of study?

This is one of the highest tertiary education levels in Australia for Dermal Therapy. The Associate Degree is taught in accordance with the AQF level 6 and the Bachelor Degree in accordance with the AQF level 7 requirements for Australian higher education. This Degrees are delivered in a face to face classroom environment within the Faculty of Science facility with hands-on Dermal Clinic practical training supervised by industry leading Dermal Clinicians. Classes will be scheduled on Monday or Tuesday and Clinic by appointment in order to accommodate students career progression. Students are encouraged to work in related fields throughout the Degree program.

Membership Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians

The Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians (ASDC) is Australia’s peak industry organisation representing the Clinical Dermal Industry. As the leading industry body, ASDC’s areas of responsibility include education, advocacy, industry awareness, career opportunities, safety and support services. The Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians is also a member of Allied Health Professions Australia.

The Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians reviews and approves educational programs that are of the highest quality in order for Graduates to be admitted as members of the ASDC.

The Australian Dermal Science Institute Degree courses have been approved by the ASDC and recognised as Undergraduate Education Programs leading to admission as Full Membership of ASDC for Bachelor Degree Graduates and Associate Membership of ASDC for Associate Degree Graduates.

Bachelor Degree Graduates who are members of the ASDC are eligible to use the title ‘Dermal Clinician’ and Associate Degree Graduates are eligible to use the title ‘Dermal Therapist’ in their professional careers.

Whilst studying at the Australian Dermal Science Institute Bachelor Degree Students are eligible to use the title ‘Student Dermal Clinician’ and Associate Degree Students are eligible to use the title ‘Student Dermal Therapist’ as Student Members of ASDC.
