AHS301 Clinical Aesthetic Interventions (Surgical)

Unit Description

This unit introduces students to the theories and practices associated with surgical intervention area of aesthetics. Students will be exposed to the world of cosmetic surgical intervention in understanding the various surgical procedures for the specific segments of the face and body. The incorporation of underpinning knowledge in surgical terminology will ensure students can have effective surgical-based communication with surgical practitioners.

Additionally, the student will learn about the concepts of reconstructive and skin cancer surgical procedures.

Prerequisites

In order to gain the most benefit out of AHS301 Clinical Aesthetic Interventions, students must have successfully completed previous Year One and Year Two units, so they can build upon and further develop the knowledge and skills acquired in previous units.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit the student will be able to:

1. Differentiate the training required for various surgical societies and academies
2. Utilise appropriate surgical terminology and documentation
3. Recognise elements of successful surgical protocols
4. Revisit understanding of facial anatomy
5. Define and describe various aesthetic surgical interventions
6. Differentiate differences between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery
7. Appraise various skin cancers and  treatments
